Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island located west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the cities in Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she had. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet 1 inches." When I reached the height of the size of my male friends then I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to take the step she needed. A teacher suggested that she take part in an audition for the annual school play. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the character in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast in Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
